Description:

We will park at Gold Lake sno-park near the summit of highway 58, carefully cross the highway and snowshoe through timber to the shores of Marilyn Lakes. Continuing north, we'll reach the Gold Lake shelter near the shore of Gold Lake and take a lunch break. The route back fallows Gold Lake Road.

Trip Report

This lovely trek at the 5000 foot level provided plenty of snow, well marked trails and glorious sunshine! As we ambled along between the two Marilyn Lakes, an eagle provided a show for us. The distant sound of a train, wind in the treetops, and gentle dripping from snow falling off the trees gave a tranquil and refreshing backdrop to our snowshoe trek. Being near the crest of the Cascades on a sunny day is pure joy!
