UPDATE: Trip one day later because of better weather forecast. We will drive to Junction City, backroads to Philomath, Highway 20 to Woods Creek Road to the North Ridge Trailhead #1350. Part of that road is gravel. It is 4.4 mile hike up to the day use Observation Point /parking lot/toilets, and another .6 miles (with wildflowers I hope) to the top of Marys Peak (3750 ft). We should start the hike around 9:30—depending on how long it takes us to navigate Eugene traffic. It is marked as moderate but the elevation is two Pisgahs.
Target opens at 8:00 so bathrooms would be available. There are no convenient ones on the way to trailhead. None at the trailhead.

Trip Report

The only obstacle was a tree across Woods Creek Road a few miles the trailhead—all of us quickly hopped out of our cars to lift and push it to the side. On the trail we were thankful that “unknown” hard working persons recently cleared the 42 plus logs with many cuts/pieces making it possible for us to continue. There was no way we could have scrambled through the tinker toy pileups on the steep slopes and switchbacks. We were also happy that our third reschedule had favorable weather conditions. It was sunny, 44 degrees with no wind for our lunch. Jonathan’s sandwich from Great Harvest was informally voted the most enticing! The yellow glacier lilies just beginning to carpet the hillside near the parking lot suggest another Marys Peak hike needs to be on the schedule.
