Trip Report

With snow a definite possibility, we decided to take a chance and drive to Lebanon and the thirteen additional miles to the McDowell Creek Falls County Park. We encountered light snow a mile from the park entrance. Serge and Denise decided it would be better with their car to turn back. On the loop trail, the wintry landscape gave us silence mixed with sounds of rushing waters. Snowflakes fell quietly on us and framed the waterfalls. Tatum, ten years old, sparkled even more. Back at the parking lot, we noted that there were now four cars. Within a few minutes down the road, the snow had disappeared. Tatum counted eleven deer in a farmer’s pasture and even more llamas on down the road. We ate lunch at Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant in Lebanon. The trip took 5 ½ hours. Thanks to Keiko for driving! McDowell Creek Falls County Park was featured in the Register Guard the day before.
