Obsidians volunteer day at Green Island with McKenzie River Trust.
We'll work 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM on blackberry removal on the 2.5-acre plot, recently adopted by Obsidians.
Green Island is located at the confluence of the McKenzie and the Willamette Rivers. McKenzie River Trust with generous support of dozen local organization and hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers researching, restoring, and protecting over 1100 acres of riverbanks, forest, islands, channels, sloughs, and grassland.

Trip Report

Today's volunteer day on Green Island was a complete success. We worked on a 2.5-acre plot recently adopted by the Obsidians.
Green Island is located at the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers. The McKenzie River Trust, with the generous support of a dozen local organizations and hundreds of volunteers, researches, restores and protects more than 1,100 acres of rivers, forests, islands, canals, swamps and pastures.
An enthusiastic group of sixteen Obsidians used a variety of tools to liberate the trees entangled in the blackberry jungle. We dug over 200 blackberry crown roots and cleaned the birdhouses. Teamwork was fun.
