Description:

Departure location: Alton Baker Park by the pond
Trip description: The ride has been postponed to Thursday Nov. 30 because of weather considerations. An easy loop heading north along the Willamette river bike trail to Delta Oaks, north on County Farm Road to Coburg Road, along the Mckenzie River on Mckenzie View to Hayden Bridge in Springfield, through Springfield on 42nd to Clearwater Lane and back along the Willamette and the new Millrace bike trail. A beautiful ride with a little street riding with bike lanes and very little climbing. We will ride unless it is pouring or icy. We will proceed to an eatery of the group’s choice for lunch after the ride. Our average speed will be 10-12 mph, so we should be done riding by 12:30 or so.

Trip Report

Five hardy bicyclists gathered at Alton Baker Park hoping to beat the predicted rain. The temperature was 40 degrees. We picked up a sixth rider along the Willamette bike trail and rode out Coburg Road to Mckenzie View along the Mackenzie River. At the end of Mckenzie View we stopped to admire a herd of elk near the road. We completed the 30-mile loop through Springfield and along the Willamette River and Millrace. We finished in two and one half hours, before the rain began. After the ride we enjoyed lunch together at a downtown eatery. Great fun!
