Description:

We will be accessing the mountain via the Pole Creek trailhead on the eastside. On Sat we will meet around 7 Am to drive over and hike or ski in, depending on how people prefer to travel and snow conditions. We'll camp Sat night and get up early to climb on Sunday. Then come back down to camp and pack up and head out.

  • Supplies and Equipment Required: You will need overnight camping gear and be prepared to camp on snow (it is best to use both an ensolite and thermarest type pad, thermarests on snow can be cold). We can assign stoves, etc after we see how many people we have. You will also need harness, helmet and 2 locking carabiners and a prusik, ice ax, and crampons. If there is still deep snow plan on either skiing or snowshoeing. A more detailed list will be sent out to the team as the climb gets closer.

Trip Report

We had a fine climb on Middle Sister and were able to stay cool until the hike out. Eight Obsidians hiked into high camp (7200') on Saturday and found a great spot that accommodated all of us. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and melting snow for drinking water. We arose early on Sun, hiked up to the saddle and set up a fixed line up the steep snow of the North Ridge. Soon after we all stood on top, the views and weather all outstanding. After numerous summit treats, we headed back down, got to camp and packed up and hiked out.
