Trip Report

Saturday five of us hiked the seven miles to Camp Lake, which lies between South and Middle Sister. The skies were overcast, the wind was blowing, and it was cold. Needless to say, we turned in early to keep warm; by 1:15 it was raining. We had intended to get up at 4, but it was so foggy we decided to catch a few more winks before rolling out. By 5:15 there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and by 6:30, when we left camp, the wind had died down and the sun was shining. We climbed to the saddle and found all the clouds below us, but fog soon surrounded us again. As we moved on up the ridge the fog disappeared. We reached the top by noon and were welcomed by another group of climbers we had climbed with before. We stayed about an hour, then headed down to camp, packed and headed for the car. On climb were: Clarence Landes, Wes Prouty, Jake Veldhuisen, Greg Wannier and leader Don Payne.
