Mildred Kanipe Park – Explora Hike

Description:

I haven't done this hike, but it sounds like a good trek and is only 50 miles away.  According to All-Trails, this will be a 7.2 mile loop at Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park in Oakland, a 1,100 acre former farm and homestead. The loop starts near the campground and uses  perimeter trails to loop around the outside of the park.  Also according to All Trails, there are several hill climbs amounting to over 1,000 feet of elevation gain. There are reports that peacocks hang around the parking lot.

We'll meet up at the far parking lot of Lane Community College on East 30th Street. Kindly arrive by 8:20 a.m. so we can have an on-time departure. Feel free to call or text leader at 510-368-8941 with any questions.  

Suggested donation for drivers $11.00

 A stop at for coffee in Sutherlin after the hike is a definite possibility.
