Mt Pisgah Sunset/Moonrise

Description:

This is not the usual short sunset hike. Look for us by my car, two (not one) rows down from the fee box. Sunset is 8:52pm and moonrise is 9:07. We will take Trail 17 to Trail 4 and then go up and up Trail 2 on the east side—around a 2 hour hike to the top at a a steady pace. Trip Report

We timed our two hour hike on the Pisgah back trails (#4 and #2) to reach the summit for sunset at 8:45 and to join the other Obsidian hikers who left from the North Trailhead. Columbine, tiger lilies, balsam root and abundant yellow elegant tarred, Madia elegansso brightened the landscapes. it was easy to social distance, wear face coverings, and visit while we enjoyed the sunset. It was cloudy to the east so we headed down before the moonrise at 9:15. Thanks to Angie who sent everyone an email about the the trip's safety guidelines and handled the preliminary introductions in the parking lot.
