  • Start time: 12:00 AM

  • End date: 03/05/2023

  • End time: 11:59 PM

Description:

Look for us by my car a row or two down from the fee box. Sunset is 6:05 and moonrise is 4:21. (The full moon is two days later.) Current plan is to take Trails 7,3, and 1 to the to. Faster hikers usually include a section of Trail 4. Email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net if you have questions. If you don’t have a Lane County pass allow time to purchase one with Debit/Credit card (no cash) at the pay station by trailhead. With the early moonrise, perhaps someone will want to add/lead a longer approach hike if there is favorable weather for celestial viewings.

Trip Report

When the weather quickly changed to snow and rain at 3:00 pm, I almost canceled the trip. By the time we met at Mt. Pisgah at 4:45 pm, there was some blue sky and sun. The early moonrise at 4:21 p.m gave us hope that we would see the moon and a few of us did see it float behind some clouds. On the way way down when we looked back at the sky, we saw a brilliant moon. We had a joyful descent! We felt so fortunate that we persevered and the moon rewarded us, Driving back to town, we saw Jupiter and Venus.
