Mt. Pisgah Sunset/Moonrise

Description:

DATE Change to the 19th. Look for us by my car a row or two down from the fee box. Sunset is 8:01pm and the full moonrise is 8:32pm. We will take the main trail (#1) back to the parking lot. Email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net if you have questions. Consider coming early to have time to check out the wildflowers on the arboretum trails.

The main trail has deep ruts (mini canyons) from the recent rainfall. You will definitely want a flashlight on the way down.

Trip Report

Since light rain and clouds shrouded the summit, we headed back down before sunset. However eight deer almost hidden in the mist were able to view us with great interest. I did consider a photograph of one of us standing in one of the "mini canyons" braiding the main trail. Heavy rainfall with torrents of flowing water has damaged the trail.
