Description:

This is a multi-pitch trad climb meaning we will place protection as we go and then rappel from the top. The climb is located in northern California and is on solid granite. Those signing up for the trip will need advanced rock climbing skills including climbing vertical rock (rated 5.6), belaying a lead climber and rappelling. We will be leaving Eugene around 4 PM on Friday, drive down and camping at Castle Rock state park, then get up at 4:30 AM to climb.

  • Supplies and Equipment Required: You will need a harness, helmet, personal anchor system, rock shoes, belay-rappel device, 3 locking carabiners and a small day pack. We will be carrying our gear up and over the climb so make sure you have a light weight pack. You will also need 2 liters of water for the climb, lunch and snacks. You will also need camping gear and breakfast for the day of the climb.

Trip Report

We had a fantastic trip, perfect team, great weather! We did not have any other parties ahead of us so we were able to get on the route right away. We also had fun celebrating Jen Marlow's birthday on the climb complete with tiaras and cupcakes on the top.
