Description:

Mt Thielsen is the perfect first Oregon mountain to climb. It is about a 10 mile trip round trip. Then, there is a great ridge with a bit of exposure that we will scramble up. Then we put on our harnesses and climb the final rock to the summit. Participants need to be comfortable with exposure and need to be in good enough physical shape for a 12 hour day.

Trip Report

Six climbers summited Mt Thielsen on Saturday, August 24. We started at about 5pm. It was a VERY fast group, we were back at our cars in under 8 hours. It was a breezy but sunny day. We did have one climber slip at the beginning of the climb. All the safety procedures worked exactly as they should. His prussik caught him, he was uninjured, and the climb assistant was there to make sure he was safe and ok. The climb assistant also called him the next day to confirm he was uninjured.
