Description:

The plan is to do the Mazama Glacier route if the road is open to the southeast side of Adams. If it is not open, we will do the south side route. Either way, we will establish a high camp and head for the summit from there. We will plan on spending two nights at the high camp. Note: a climbing permit (cost:$15 per person) is needed in addition to normal club fees.

  • Supplies and Equipment Required: The Mazama Glacier route requires roped travel; participants will need ice axe, crampons, helmet, harness, prusiks, carabiners in addition to camping gear and food for three days/two nights. You must be prepared for cold and wind regardless of the weather forecast. Participants must have completed the Basic Mountaineering class offered by the Obsidians, or an equivalent course offered by another organization. Contact me if you have questions.

Cancelled due to access problems (still 4 ft of snow at the trailhead, have 3.5 miles of road to walk to get there) and weather (rain forecast for Saturday and Sunday).
