Trip Report

This is the third year in a row that I have made this climb (the second time as "leader") and it has been an unqualified success every time. The Castle Crags are beautiful and the rock is a delight to climb. The wonderfully scenic area and solid rock combined with relatively easy climbing and exciting exposure make this climb a true classic. Add to all that the pleasure of companionship, mutual trust and shared experience that are inherent to rock climbing and you have the ingredients for a truly memorable and satisfying day.

Thanks to my teammates for sharing the day and the climb. Assistant leader Maryanne Reiter shared a rope with Flaxen Conway while I traded belays with David Goodman.
