Trip Report

This was a joint trip with Frank Moore and the Obsidian Explorers. We all met at Pamelia Lake trailhead and after passing the lake, took the PCNST to our campsite at Upper Shale Lake.

Started climb at 5:00 a.m. Saturday and were at the Red Saddle at 10:00, when we were surprised to find a large moat completely around the snow. Using the moat, we crossed to the north side with out need of ropes, and up the north side of the pinnacle. All were on top by l1:30 a.m. Returned to the snow field after lunch and rest on a windless, beautiful day. Fixed a line for the return across the moat, and all reached Red Saddle without incident. Down the long south ridge, completing a great climb were Ron Green, Ed Lovegren, Jim Hunter, Keith Blunck, Margaret Crosland, Jerry Mohler, Wayne Hatch, Greg Henderson, and leaders Lee Hatch and Frank Moore.
