Trip Report

The group met at the trailhead about 5 p.m. on Saturday just in time to see many weary climbers returning from as much as a 12 hour day getting up and back down the mountain. Some youth groups had also climbed and were impatiently waiting for the local sheriffs organization to help find some of their missing members who had failed to turn off the main trail at the junction to the parking lot. An hour or so later we set up camp in the woods and began to do what the mosquitos had already been doing - eat. Tents became a necessity rather than just sleeping out under the stars.

By 4:30 a.m., Tom had everyone up and by 5:30 we were on the trail. The four hour climb to the summit was uneventful. It was still cool and the pace was comfortable and steady. While enjoying the hazy view from the top, four other climbers arrived having taken 2½ hours. The hike back was relaxed with more time given to seeing and enjoying the surrounding area.

Climbers were Tom Cawi, Becky Hansen, Peggy Proctor and leader Bud Proctor.
