Trip Report

Mt. McLoughlin is the highest peak in Southern Oregon and an accessible nine thousand foot mountain, with a trail to the top. But with 3915 feet of elevation and significant rock scrambling, it is definitely more a climb than a hike. It would be much more popular with Obsidians if it were not so far away. We left Saturday afternoon, had a wonderful dinner at Olive Garden in White City, then slept under clear warm skies at the trailhead. At 11:00 a.m. we were on the summit. There were low clouds over Medford, but beautiful, clear views of Shasta and the surrounding mountains. What better way to spend a weekend! Climbers were Laurie Funkhouser, Daphne James, Doug McCarty, and John Pegg, leader.

The May Bulletin is now online.

Stop by the Obsidians booth at the Mt. Pisgah Arboretum Wildflower Festival, Sunday, May 17, 10-5 pm..
