Description:

Turn right at the sign for West Summit Trailhead and follow pay fee/station signs. We meet one row down from the gate and pay station. If you don’t have a Lane County permit, allow time to use a credit card at the pay station by trailhead. Depending on weather, I plan to take back trails like #4 and #2 to the summit, avoiding the main trail #1. Mileage and elevation could vary but around 6 miles at a steady pace. Estimated time is 3 hours so bring snacks. Email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net if you have questions. The route is longer and harder than taking the main trail to the summit.

Trip Report

All of us enjoyed the sunny day, the quiet back trails, the conversation, and the views of the snow capped mountains from the top. We welcomed Travis on this third trip soon to be an Obsidian member. The hike took three hours.
