Description:

The Mt. Pisgah Mushroom show starts at 10:00 so we should not have a problem parking at the North Trailhead where we will start the hike on Trail 3. Mileage is estimate depending on weather and participants. Directions to North Trailhead: Instead of turning right to the usual meeting place at yellow fee box, turn left after crossing the bridge spanning the Coast Fork of the Willamette River and proceed a 1/4 mile to a gravel parking area. A sign kiosk indicates the North Trailhead. You will need a Lane County Park pass. There is no fee box at this parking lot. I plan to hike on the back trails and eventually make our way down to the mushroom festival where we can view and eat lunch. If you want to attend, the suggested donation fee is $8.00. I recommend that you pay online (easy) and avoid standing in line. http://www.mountpisgaharboretum.com/festivals-events/mushroom-festival-2018/ If questions or if you don't have a Lane County Pass, email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net

Trip Report

At 8:00 there were only a few cars in the north parking lot when we headed out for the North Bottomlands eventually arriving at the summit around 10:15. Down at the Mushroom Festival we found it easy to purchase delicious mushroom dishes and find places to sit. Four of us took the undeveloped Coast Fork River Trail back to our cars thus avoiding the traffic jam. We felt fortunate to have had a quiet morning enjoying the trails, the colors, our friends, mushrooms and just a bit of rain. Four
