Trip Report

The tree donated by Dave Predeek and decorated by the Princesses was impressive with the 165 pounds of donated food. Thanks to all the Obsidians who helped share with Food for Lane County.

Around 88 people were present for Pete Helzer's slides of the Mt. Pisgah pedestal. The many hours of study and work needed to complete this work was overwhelming. Every part of the pedestal has some meaning in the history and geography of this area. Our thanks go to Pete for not only sharing his slides but sharing so much of himself in the work itself. We also want to thank Pete's wife, Marge, who is studying the Native Americans of that area for her archaeology degree.

The evening concluded with contra music with Rick Ahrens, Linda Erz, and Michael Morrow. They wrote some clever Obsidian lyrics for group singing. (See box below.)

Carrot cake and candles were a special treat for our new president Jane Hackett's birthday. Thanks to Pat Dark who supervised the kitchen and Vera Woolley who provided the table decorations.
Deck the Hills . . .

Double up those carabiners,

Don't forget the ropes and pitons,

"WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS" and "TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS" were also rendered (heavily Obsidianized), by the trio, assisted by an enthusiastic Potluck gathering reading from their Official 1990 Obsidian Christmas Potluck Souvenir Sing-Along Carol Sheets.
