The parking lot will be crowded. Look for us by my car, a row or two down from the fee box.
Sunset is 8:58pm. I plan to take trail 17 and 4 to catch the main trail to the summit. Our goal
is to view the rays of the sunset shining through the Mt. Pisgah Sighting Pedestal. We will
take the main trail (#1) back to the parking lot. For more about the pedestal, see the
sculptor's website, Peter Helzer. Email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net if you have questions

Trip Report

Our 7:45 pm departure gave us time to join others to watch the rays of the setting sun light up the slot in the Mt. Pisgah Sighting Pedestal before sunset at 8:58 pm. The highlight was meeting sculptor, Peter Helzer, and learning more about how the bronze pedestal came to be in 1990. The sky was filled with beautiful colors as we headed back down the trail.
