Trip Report

On Friday 8/12/77 eight climbers left Eugene in my van. After a nine-hour drive we arrived at the trailhead to Lake Ann. This is about 50 miles east of Bellingham, Washington. The four mile trail is beautiful tho a bit tiring. We were met at Lake Ann by three more climbers. Saturday morn we started climbing at 5:00 a.m. We finessed up Fisher's Chimney - cut up crossing Curtis Glacier - hustled up Hell's Highway - and pooped out parading up the Pinnacle. We were on top by 11:00 a.m., the weather was perfect, so we enjoyed a short rest and lunch break. We were back in camp by 5:00 p.m. After a good night's rest, we hiked out Sunday morn and drove home. This was a very fine group of climbers and it was a real pleasure for me even tho the mountain had gotten bigger and steeper since I last climbed it ten years ago. Climbers were Martin Agran, Paul & Tom Bascom, Cal Crawford, Bert Ewing, David Lewinsohn, Glenn Meares, Kevin McManigal, Richard and Robert Scherer and leader Bob Dark.
