Trip Report

Seven of us converged at the Climbers’ Bivouac on Friday night. After enduring a noisy bunch of neighboring campers and a lot of late-night arrivals with bright headlights, we eagerly got up at the crack of dawn and started on the trail. We knew it was going to be another hot September day, so we were motivated to make good time to beat the heat. Even with several rest stops along the way we were at the top in about three hours! (from 3800 to 8365 ft.!). We spent some time enjoying the incredible view into the crater (unfortunately, the views of Rainier, Adams and Hood were all really hazy), and then hightailed it back to the cars to catch Saturday night at the Eugene Celebration! Joining me (Bill Montgomery) were Andy Dungan, Josh & Ron Ladau, Mike Landes, Ed Lovegren and Jim Porter.
