Description:

Standard West Ridge route. Starting from the Thielsen TH, we'll get to the PCT junction, then start up the ridge. Hiking, 3rd, and 4th class scrambles will take us to the pinnacle block where we will rope up on a fixed line for the final low 5th climb to the summit. Planning to rappel off the summit block. Back in Eugene the same evening.
We will coordinate car pool and confirm the departure time prior to meeting.

Trip Report

We met early to carpool out of Eugene and were on the trail by 7am. The mosquitos didn't let us take much of a break until getting close to the PCT junction. Despite a couple of initially, semi-threatening clouds, things cleared up for our summit around 11am. Great group and folks got to put their climb school lessons to practice for fixed lines and rappels. On the descent we saw our first signs of other people on the mountain and the mosquitos apparently had their fill of us on our way up because they were not to be seen. We found that a restaurant in the town of Crescent has the best chicken gizzards around.
