Trip Report

We left the car at 7:15 a.m. and started up under clear skies. When we arrived at timberline we could see a lone figure on the summit. As we neared the top of the ridge we met a climber coming down who had camped the night before just below the pinnacle and had been on the summit early in the morning. There was a party of a dozen or so going up the pinnacle when we arrived at the base so we snacked and enjoyed the view until they came down. We were on the summit by noon and were treated with a fine view south to Mt. Shasta, but clouds were around the Sisters to the north. After gazing for awhile we headed down and were again blasted by the wind near the gendarmes. Met several people heading up, including two guys in running shoes and shorts and else who were "running" to the top! Whatever - A wonderful time was had by all: Susan Meyer and Pat & Randy Zustiak, leader.
