Trip Report

Although our 8:00 a.m. start was a little later than we would like, seven kids and four parent-leaders started walking under clear sky on a beautiful Saturday. We trudged through a bit of snow, but reached the base of the pinnacle in good shape a little past noon. Everyone made it to the peak except one parent who had climbed Mt. Thielsen before. It did take two starts for one boy, but a lot of encouragement earned him his summit certificate. Making their first climb ever were Isaac Thompson (9), Aaron Thompson (12), Ole Thompson (15) and Dad Steve Thompson. Also on their first climbs were Brad Jay (12) and Scott John (12). It was the first time on this mountain for Brad's dad, Roger Jay. Old hands along were Lisa John (13), Mike John (15), Mom Pat John and Dad Steve John, leader.
