Trip Report

The straightforward simplicity and beauty of a September climb of this mountain when a full moon glints across Diamond Lake into the sleeping camp at wake-up hour makes this for me a classic climb.

A long easy morning to the summit and a pinnacle sharp enough to bug the eyes of newcomers and gently, but firmly, sharpen the senses and caution of her old friends makes the climb worthwhile.

Diamond Lake held enough summer warmth to freshen without bone-chill as we swam away the dust and sweat of the climb. The glow of the afternoon sun soothed and dried us. Ruth, Cindy, Ellen, Tom, and Mary Bascom, Marge & Jon King, Greg Wannier, and John Bascom, the leader.
