Description:

Substitute trip for The Husband climb which was canceled due to wildfire closure.

Hike from Notch Lake TH to Divide Lake and scale to true summit of Mt. Yoran. This is the north peak, not the east one by the divide. There is some exposed 4th class scrambling involved.

Trip Report

We were pleased to find that there were already ripe huckleberries along the trail, but had to pick them “on the fly” as the mosquitoes discouraged stopping. Once at Divide Lake we followed the climbers trail up to the saddle between Mt. Yoran and the slightly higher, unnamed peak to the east. We then scrambled around to the south side of Yoran, and up the gully to the top. We spent more than an hour there, basking in the sun and admiring the views of the surrounding peaks and lakes. This was a fine substitute for the originally planned two-day climb of The Husband, which had to be canceled due to wildfire on the east side of Substitute Point.
