Trip Report

Only two hikers this morning. We drove up Mt. June in mist (and missed the turn to the planned trailhead) and began hiking from the lower trailhead. The trail is well designed with lots of switchbacks. On the ridge line, the trail to the summit heads steeply uphill. We climbed above the mist and had great views. We saw no hikers until we began backtracking. We hiked an out-and-back two miles to see the south facing meadows above the Laying Creek drainage and admire the many wildflowers in their prime. This area deserves all the roadless protection possible as it is a gem close to Eugene/Springfield.
