Trip Report

The weather didn't exactly cooperate for our hike...The temperature was in the low 40's as we hit the trail. There was a thick fog covering the treetop canopy, with drippy raindrops occasionally reaching ground level. These conditions meant we had the trail all to ourselves! The group quickly separated into two segments hiking at different speeds. The lower section of trail had quite a bit of coral root in bloom. Nearly everyone reached the summit. They were 'rewarded' with NO views and a smaller than usual display of wildflowers (small patches of penstemon & sedum, plus a few larkspur, avalanche and fawn lilies). The clouds started to break apart as we neared Highway 58 on our way home.
