Description:

The Mt. Pisgah Mushroom show starts at 10:00 so we should not have a problem parking at the North Trailhead where we will start the hike on Trail 3. Mileage is an estimate depending on weather and participants. Some may choose to depart for the festival at various intersections. Directions to North Trailhead: Instead of turning right to the usual meeting place at yellow fee box, turn left after crossing the bridge spanning the Coast Fork of the Willamette River and proceed a 1/4 mile to a gravel parking area. A sign kiosk indicates the North Trailhead. You will need a Lane County Park pass. There is no fee box at this parking lot. I plan to hike on the back trails to the top and eventually make our way down to the mushroom festival where we can view and eat lunch. If you want to attend, the suggested donation fee is $10.00 I recommend that you pay online (easy) if it is available. mountpisgaharboretum.com/festivals-events/mushroom-festival-2019/

Trip Report

At 8:00 there were only a few cars in the north parking lot when we headed out in the fog on the River Trail to the North Bottomlands. An hour later we started up the trails to the sun and the summit. On the way down a few headed back to their cars while the rest of us enjoyed the sunny day at the Mushroom Festival deciding which food cart had the best mushroom dish. Several of us caught the bus back to the north parking lot while others walked back on the River Trail. We felt fortunate to have had a quiet morning (except for our talking), enjoying the trails, the colors, our friends, mushrooms and eventually the sun!
