Description:

Note the departure time. The Mt. Pisgah Mushroom show starts at 10:00 so hopefully we won’t have a problem parking at the NorthTrailhead where we will start the hike on Trail 3. Directions to North Trailhead: Instead of turning right to the usual meeting place at yellow fee box, turn left after crossing the bridge spanning the Coast Fork of the Willamette River and proceed a 1/4 mile to a gravel parking area. A sign kiosk indicates the North Trailhead. I plan to hike on the back trails and eventually make our way down to the mushroom festival. If you want to attend, the suggested donation fee is $8.00. You can pay online and avoid standing in line. http://www.mountpisgaharboretum.com/festivals-events/2017-mushroom-festival/
The hike could take 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours. Email me if questions: jbjacobsen@comcast.net

Trip Report

There were plenty of parking spaces at 9:00 at the north trailhead for our 3 hour hike before we visited the Mushroom Festival. We hiked on back trails (7, 4, and 2) to the summit. Our quiet morning quickly picked up sensory speed when we entered the festival area to a bustle of music, food carts, mushrooms, coffee, and quite a few of the 4000 people who attended. All of the hikers eventually made it back to their cars and had no trouble avoiding the traffic jams entering the festival. There was a plea for the hike to be on the schedule next October. About festival tickets: Darko and Kathy had tickets from volunteering the day before. Others purchased tickets online to avoid waiting.
