Description:

Look for us by near car a row or two down from the fee box. Sunset is 8:58. I plan to take trail 1 to the summit. We will take the main trail (#1) back to the parking lot. Email the leader g_iredale@yahoo.com if you have questions. Obsidian protocols for social distancing will be observed on the hike. Refer to main website page for information.

Trip Report

The Mt. Pisgah Solstice group that opted for a shorter hike than Janet Jacobson's enjoyed a more leisurely pace up the main trail, encountering fewer than normal people due to the imposing, discouraging clouds. We were glad to not have to mask up often for passers by as we kept a safe social distance while enjoying conversation.

After reaching the summit with plenty of time to marvel at the dramatic, low clouds in the eastern valley, we were joined by Janet's group, exchanged wam greetings, and lined up behind the slit in the bronze relief sculpture in hopes of a solstice sunset despite the clouds. Luckily enough, the sun broke through the clouds just above the horizon before setting behind the coastal fog bank.

Spirits bouyed by our good fortune, we made good time down the main trail.
