Description:

Thielsen is a super fun mountain to climb. Its a lovely hike, a slightly spicy ridge, then we rope up and climb one pitch on great steep rock to a great summit.

This is a great first technical climb, you will love it!

Trip Report

June 19 five of us summitted Mt Thielsen. We started at 5am. There was a little bit of snow on the trail below the ridge, but the ridge was clear and the rock was clear. There were a lot of mosquitos on the hike in, but they cleared once we hit the ridge.

There was a Mazama team on the mountain, but we were a couple hours ahead of them.

The weather was perfect. Cool at the start, but warn and comfortable at the summit.

We were back to the car in about 10 hours.
