Description:

For this outing we will be clearing and readying the drainage ditches along the Ridgeline Trail in Spencer Butte Park. Depending on group size we will hike to either Fox Hollow or the Tie Trail Junction and work our way back to Willamette and 52nd.

Meet at the Willamette and 52nd parking lot, the small gravel lot on Willamette. Work party goes from 9am-12pm.

Trip Report

For our first outing of a Winter schedule, Saturday morning outings, we met at the Willamette and 52nd trailhead and readied ourselves for a morning of work in recognition of National Public Lands Day. We broke into 2 groups. The bulk of our group hiked into the Tie Trail Junction to clear drainage ditches. Clara stayed behind at the trailhead to cutback blackberries. Our group of 5 ditch cleaners made great time scraping the ditches and culvert outflows clear of duff, plants, and gravel on our way back to the Willamette & 52nd trailhead. We got to see and use the new bridge the City installed. Upon returning the tools to the City's shed I realized I was 1 Terra hoe short. I took Nathaniel and Fletcher with me on a hike to find and return it. We found it in the second to last drainage system we worked on.

Special thanks go to Clara for annihilating the blackberries along the fence line behind the kiosk.
