Description:

The staff at Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad has decided to host one more volunteer event at the new Cottage Grove community garden this spring to finish up some odds and ends. Obsidians will join staff and other volunteers on Thursday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The primary task will be to fill some new raised bed totes that were delivered couple of weeks ago, and we also hope to hang some fence screening materials.
IF YOU ARE COMING FROM EUGENE AREA: Contact the leader so we can carpool 9:30AM from Amazon Park, 28th & Hilyard parking lot in Eugene to Cottage Grove.
IF YOU PLAN TO MEET THE GROUP IN COTTAGE GROVE: Meet 10AM behind the high school on R Street, near the soccer field. From River Road, head West on Harrison and left in R.

Trip Report

Three Obsidians joined Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad staff and community volunteers for a final work party at the Community Garden in Cottage Grove. Activities included filling the accessible beds with wood chips and soil, spreading lime to correct the pH in the planting beds, moving plant debris, and completing the roof on the lean-to for storing wheelbarrows. Excitement was high as 45 families will soon begin gardening in early April! This was our 12th work party since starting in October; we are all grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this project that will grow food and nurture community for years to come.
