New Community garden center, Cottage Grove – Work party

Description:

Obsidians volunteers will join others and work in coordination with the Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council to build a new community garden center in Cottage Grove. The work will include cleaning old garden structures, moving flower beds, soil, and spreading the gravel in raised bed area.
All tools will be provided, so only your enthusiasm and the will to do the work in, for now, unknown weather conditions are required. Please support program of Huerto de la Familia , now a part of a nonprofit called Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad.
At the previous outings we got a lot accomplished. The breakdown of the previous garden site is an ongoing project. We already build most of a permanent fence, installed the fencing wire, and start organizing the garden. Fun work ahead includes spreading compost and gravel to raised bed area, marking plots, building infrastructure (sheds, tables, raised beds).

IF YOU ARE COMING FROM EUGENE AREA: We will carpool 9:30AM from Amazon Park, 28th & Hilyard parking lot in Eugene to Cottage Grove.
IF YOU PLAN TO MEET THE GROUP IN COTTAGE GROVE: Meet 10AM behind the high school on R Street, near the soccer field. From River Road, head West on Harrison and left in R.
After the work party some of us will stop at Cottage Grove for lunch. Please join us.

Trip Report

Another work project went very well.
Building New Community garden center in Cottage Grove is a great experience. I am inspired by all the care that volunteers give to the community.
