Description:

This is the last public/group volunteer project of the Cottage Grove Community Garden before the garden opens. Please join us to help with the final projects and celebrate the community's achievements.
All tools will be provided, so only your enthusiasm and the will to do the work in, for now, unknown weather conditions are required. Please support the program of Huerto de la Familia, now a part of a nonprofit called Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad. At the previous outings we got a lot accomplished. We demolished old garden, built permanent fence, spread tons of compost and gravel to raised bed area, build new garden beds and tool sheds and much more.

IF YOU ARE COMING FROM EUGENE AREA: We will carpool 9:30AM from Amazon Park, 28th & Hilyard parking lot in Eugene to Cottage Grove.
IF YOU PLAN TO MEET THE GROUP IN COTTAGE GROVE: Meet 10AM behind the high school on R Street, near the soccer field. From River Road, head West on Harrison and left in R.

Trip Report

Eight Obsidians and one prospective Obsidian gathered at the Community Garden in Cottage Grove on a beautiful spring morning. Together with 15 other folks we worked to get the garden ready for the 45 families that will soon be planting and growing food. We accomplished a variety of tasks—filling raised beds with mulch and soil, raking soil to level the planting beds, attaching faucets to irrigation pipes, and spreading lime. During the introductions, Obsidians were thanked by Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad staff for our contributions over 11 volunteer work parties in the fall and winter. It is joyful work with friends.<br />
