North Bank Restoration Project

Description:

This is our first restoration and stewardship project at the North Bank. We will be doing clipping/digging blackberry and ivy removal from trees. Some of volunteers would take on picking up some of the “micro” garbage that was left after the major cleanups. All the tools and supplies will be provided on the site on the day of the event.
Please park at North Bank parking lot, the far north end of the Summit building side (near McMenamins North Bank)

Trip Report

Earlier this year Parks and Open Space acquired the river front property on the north bank of the Willamette, previously owned by ODOT. There had been significant camping there for years, and the landscape was severely impacted. Despite the less favorable weather conditions, fourteen Obsidian volunteers joined Kelsey Irvine and Lauri Holts of the City of Eugene Parks and Open Space at a working party along the north bank of the Willamette River in Eugene. We worked on removing invasive English ivy and cleaning up garbage as the 1st step in the process of returning to a healthy riparian area.
