Description:

30% of the hike is on local asphalt roads. Rest of hike is on excellent maintained forest road and trail.
Good weather will guarantee GREAT views to Foster Reservoir and Sweet Home.

Trip Report

It was cloudy 45°F when we arrived at Shea lookout, just five miles east of Sweet Home.
Our fast group hiked along the southwest shore of the Foster Reservoir, crossed the dam, and then took the Marks Ridge Drive gravel road. From the top of Marks Ridge, we used the old logging roads to reach the top of the cold North Butte at 11:50 AM. After a short lunch, our happy group went down the same path. Everyone enjoyed today’s exploratory hike. Many thanks to Kathy Randall and Gwyneth Iredale for picking up the trash along Marks Ridge Drive.
