Description:

The North Fork of the Willamette, is a close in picturesque hike along the river. The trail head is located just outside Westfir, Oregon. There should be wildflowers along the trail. There are 3 sections to this trail. We will be hiking the first out and back. If the day is good we might extent it to include part of the second.

Trip Report

The third weekend of June is a Mountain Bikers event in Westfir. They have live music, food and 450 bikers. They were riding the Alpine trail. That might have meant starting at Tire Mt and coming out at Westfir. I am not sure, lots of tents. So it was 3 days of riding somewhere in that area. We lucked out they were not using the trail we were hiking. The whole thing was packing up and leaving as we got there. We had the trail to ourselves. The day was warm and the river fast and full. We hiked the first section out and back. Had a leisurely lunch on the bridge before heading back. A few new things in Westfir, a cafe across the road from the covered bridge. This was not open when we were there. The B&B, has added a coffee/snack bar that was open and is open at least during the summer 7 days a week. We did pick up cold drinks here.
