Description:

We will leave LCC, drive up to Westfir trailhead. We will drive one car to the second bridge on the trail and leave it there. The hike will start at Westfir and continue along the first 2 sections of this trail and into the first mile of the third and then return to the car and retrieve our cars. The trail travels along the river for most of it route. We should be back in Eugene by middle afternoon.

Trip Report

Three members of our group have never hiked this trail so it was a delight to lead along this close in year around hike. The river was full and running fast. The little purple snow queens were popping out along the edge of the trail. Way to early for my taste. The trail for the most part was in good shape. One tree down in the middle of the second section easy to get over. A few muddy areas to work around but not bad. Toward the end of the trip we saw 3 kayakers headed down river for the white water. That was a first for me, I always wonder why someone is not taking advantage of the winter water on this river. We had no rain that waited until we were done. Great day.
