Description:

This wander will take us up and down hills, through a hidden park then through the Wayne Morse woods. We will wonder at the gnome village on our way up to the reservoir on College Hill. We will wander back via neighborhood connector paths and wonder at the birds along the newly refurbished chip trail next to the Amazon Canal. Bonus points for those who know what the title of this hike is in reference to.

Trip Report

On this sunny day we had lots to wonder at while we wandered. Highlights include a stunning purple Beauty Berry tree, a camelia bush in full bloom, and a magical gnome village all decked out for Christmas. From Lafferty Park we could see Autzen Stadium and Bowerman Tower. In the Wayne Morse woods we saw and heard several types of birds, including woodpeckers. High in the trees we spotted the nests of the red shouldered hawks. We were the only ones at the reservoir on College Hill, a rare occurance. Taking a series of connector paths we ended up along the Amazon Canal to get back to where we started.
