Old McKenzie Hwy 242 (Proxy, Tenas Lake, Dee Wright)

  • Start date: 06/20/2026

  • Start time: 8:00 AM

Description:

(Only six permits were available for June 20. I'll keep an eye on additional tickets being released June 18)

Lets explore the beautiful Old McKenzie Highway 242 with three stops and two hikes. Trail conditions could be interesting, participants must be prepared for anything from a little snow on the trails, or mosquitos.

First stop; Proxy Falls is 1.6 miles out and back. We’ll continue driving to the Scott Lake trailhead for a 5 mile hike and lunch at Tenas Lake. Last stop, a 10 min drive to the top of the pass to the Dee Wright Observatory for a stunning view of the Cascades. Some participants will stop at Takodas after.

Carpool: Limited parking along our route – the fewer cars the better. Suggested carpool donation: $15.50. Drivers need NW Forest Pass or National Park pass.
