Trip Report

The April 22nd Potluck featured speakers who focused on Oregon outdoor issues. After supper Obsidian Marriner Orum spoke briefly about the Willamette National Forest Management draft plan and answered questions from members who asked about the alternatives to which the public is urged to respond.

Obsidian Bob Doppelt spoke about the Federal Wild and Scenic Rivers bill and answered questions about bill S-2148 which would protect 29 rivers in Oregon.

Bill Marlatte of Bend presented a slide show illustrating the 11 rivers that would gain protection under the Oregon Rivers Initiative. He asked for cooperation from Obsidians in spreading the word. Anyone wishing to circulate petitions in behalf of the Initiative may contact Allan Sorenson or Dallas Cole, conservation chairpersons. - Dorothy Stahl
