Trip Report

It drizzled a bit both days, but everyone was prepared. NW Portland International Hostel is in a central location and our two dorm rooms were comfortable with nearby bathrooms. We took the Bolt bus to Portland, and after a delicious, inexpensive lunch at Jake's Crawfish, we split into 2 groups: one went to the Japanese Garden and the other to the Historical Museum. Dinner was at Muu Muu which specializes in small plates. The next morning was cloudy and cool, but no rain, so we all walked along the river through Tom McCall Park and over the Tillikum Bridge. Some of us continued walking on the east side path, while others took the street car and MAX. Eventually, most of the group toured Pittock Mansion, the home of Henry Pittock who started the Oregonian. Others visited the Art Museum and/or retail stores. Those who didn't take public transportation walked almost 14 miles! We re-connected at the Amtrak Station and took the train home. It was a tiring, but satisfying 2 day adventure!
