Description:

With plenty of fresh snow falling the weekend of the 15th and 16th and clear weather predicted for the following week, Tuesday should be a great day for a cross country ski trip. My plan is to ski from Ray Benson snowpark on the South Loop trail to Brandenburg shelter then back to our vehicles on the North Loop trail. If we have the time I'd also like to make it to the North Blowout shelter.

Trip Report

I put this ski trip on the schedule with only three days notice as I wanted to target some clear weather following two days of snow. Only two people signed up for this trip however we were rewarded with excellent ski conditions with a foot of powder and we had the entire snow park to ourselves. We did the whole loop from Ray Benson snow park visiting all three shelters for a total distance of 9.2 miles. We especially enjoyed the last mile out from North Blowout shelter as this is a mostly downhill section of the trail.
