Trip Report

As a main segment of Obsidian Field Days 1983, a short section of new trail in the Blue River Ranger District gained the attention of six Obsidians, one nonmember and the Blue River Recreation Officer. Planned to alleviate the present limited and dangerous trailhead parking, the new trail will tie in with Rebel Creek Trail and a soon-to-be-built parking area at Rebel Creek Bridge. Despite a constant heavy drizzle, extremely thick and almost impenetrable vine maple and rhododendrons were cleared to make a 6-foot wide, one-third mile long corridor. Several follow-up trips will be needed to rough-out and finish the tread. The many Obsidians who use this area, yet found other things to do on May 14, owe the following dedicated and hard-working volunteers a big thanks for doing a great job: Keith Blunck, Jerry Casby, John Cecil, Gene Flynt (USFS), Shirley Froyd, Betty Legris, Ben Ross, and leader Pete Cecil.
