Description:

From the Crescent Lake Sno-park we will take the Pretty Lake Trail and ascend the east side of Redtop. We will plan to ski down either the east or north sides depending on conditions and group desire. Its possible we will loop back via Pretty Lake or possibly Fawn Lake. Mileage should be between 8 and 10 miles. Prepare for a long day and turns on the way down!

Trip Report

Seldom do perfect weather and fresh powder snow show up together. This was one of those rare days. Nine skiers left Crescent Lake Sno-Park at 9:30 AM and followed a trail broken the day before to reach the top of Redtop Mountain at 12:30 PM. Half the group couldn't wait and took a run down the pristine north side while the rest ate lunch on the summit. Endless views, no wind, and bright sunshine made the time on top unbeatable. Then the fun began! Each skier, showing their own unique style, made turns down through the fresh cold powder on the north side. Heading toward Pretty Lake and then down the Pretty Lake trail and back to the cars at 4:00 PM completed the 8 mile loop. We were the only people on the mountain on this perfect bluebird day.
